Mission:
Solution to Health Inclusion not only advocates, but actively provides opportunities, resources, and services to improve overall health for people with disabilities. Solution to Health Inclusion has expanded to include three pillars: physical activity, education, and healthcare. In order to obtain complete health, from physical to mental and emotional health, these three elements must be present, accessible, and inclusive.
Vision:
Health is a basic right that should be achievable, accessible, and equitable for all, regardless of a disability. Solution to Health Inclusion envisions a world where people with disabilities have inclusive physical activity, live in communities educated on what health looks like for all people, and have access to properly trained healthcare professionals. Through advocacy for inclusive health and increased awareness of health disparities, we can learn to be #HealthyTogether and create a more inclusive world.
Inspired by her grandmother, Tia began this initiative in 2014 through a partnership with Special Olympics and her work with Note-Able Music Therapy Services. Solution to Health Inclusion started with the goal of promoting acceptance and providing inclusive opportunities for people with disabilities. In 2015, Tia founded the first Unified Sports Program in the northern Nevada area at Reed High School. After expanding and growing that program for many years as the Youth Unified Sports Coordinator for Northern Nevada, Tia decided to further her reach beyond athletics and delve deeper into health education by partnering with the Special Olympics Healthy Athletes program in 2021 with Northern California and Nevada. She is now expanding her reach further by connecting with Special Olympics Programs in her home of San Diego and across California.
Tia also served as the President of Aztec Adaptive Sports (AAS) at San Diego State University and worked with the Strategic Planning Committee for SDSU Adapted Athletics, which is the first competitive, collegiate level adapted sports program in California. AAS supports the program and SDSU's athletes while advocating for people with physical disabilities through education and community service. AAS works to raise awareness of the Paralympics and adaptive sports, provide hands on community service opportunities through strong relationships with San Diego community organizations, share Paralympian's stories, and provide education from professionals in the adapted sports community to create future inclusive healthcare providers.
With many new and exciting additions, Solution To Health Inclusion has expanded to the three elements of health it promotes and provides today: physical activity, education, and healthcare.
